Come explore the worlds of theatre and film here at Friends School Haverford. Our program is open to beginners and experienced performing artist alike! Spend your summer studying and performing the arts of theatre and film in multiple mediums culminating in a celebration of your favorite work for friends and family!
We begin by learning various theatre warm ups and playing improv games. We'll have discussions about actors preparation and explore the development of stage presence and comedic timing. Campers will be challenged to think on their toes while engaging in side splitting improv games!
Next, we learn more about the history of written theatre and classical choral theatric performance. Working as an ensemble, we will explore working with a script and a group of actors, which leads to working on monologues and individual performances.
Our work in written theatre then moves us into the world of scripted celluloid and the modern American cinema. We will also split up into small groups to shoot and edit short films. These projects will be screened by friends and family at the conclusion of the program, and we'll send you home with your very own copy!
Camp begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 3 p.m. Early drop off and late pick up are available. Campers need to bring a lunch and a snack each day. We will go to see local productions and have guest speakers when available.
*Camp closed on July 4th and 5th.
